DrugHelp is a private, non-profit information and referral network providing information on specific drugs and treatment options, and referrals to public and private treatment programs, self-help groups, family support groups and crisis centers throughout the United States.  www.drughelp.org

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) searchable directory of drug and alcohol treatment programs shows the location of facilities around the country that treat alcoholism, alcohol abuse and drug abuse problems. www.findtreatment.samhsa.gov/ 

 

Other Substance Abuse Treatment Options

 

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem; it is nonprofessional, self-supporting, nondenominational, multiracial, apolitical, self-help group open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem.  www.aa.org

Cocaine Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from their addiction; the primary purpose is to stay free from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances, and to help others achieve the same freedom.   www.ca.org

Dual Recovery Anonymous is an independent, twelve-step, self-help organization for people with a dual diagnosis of chemically dependence and an emotional or psychiatric illness. Addresses how both illnesses affect all areas of life.  www.draonline.org

Jewish Alcoholics, Chemically Dependent Persons, and Significant Others is a voluntary mutual-help group for Jews in recovery from Alcohol and other chemical abuse. Through JACS, recovering Jews and their families connect with one another, explore their Jewish roots, and discover resources within Judaism to enhance their recovery.  www.jacsweb.org

Lifering Secular Recovery is dedicated to secular recovery from alcoholism. Includes a newsletter, an art gallery, a list of meetings and links to related resources.  www.unhooked.com

Marijuana Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others to recover from marijuana addiction.  www.marijuana-anonymous.org

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is an international, community-based association of recovering drug addicts.  www.na.org

Phoenix House, the parent organization of the Children of Alcoholics Foundation (creators of Pandora’s Box) is a nonprofit organization devoted to the treatment and prevention of substance abuse; treats nearly 5,400 adults and adolescents each day at more than 80 programs in eight states.  www.phoenixhouse.org

Secular Organizations for Sobreity (SOS) is a non-profit network of autonomous, non-professional local groups dedicated solely to helping individuals achieve and maintain sobriety through an alternative recovery method for those alcoholics or drug addicts who are uncomfortable with the spiritual content of widely available 12-Step programs.  www.secularhumanism.org/sos
