Box Training Program
Pandora's Box provides Power
Point presentations for use by chief residents, professors, staff supervisors, and other
professionals who educate health care providers. The presentations are designed for
use in morning meetings and noon conferences, staff meetings, and classrooms, or can be
easily adapted for use in continuity clinic lectures or other forums. The
presentations include both presentation slides and background notes for the speaker.
Several presentations are provided to give you flexibility in addressing these
issues. The following presentations are currently available:

Opening
and Closing Pandora's Box - this presentation provides an
overview of the impact of sensitive family issues,
including parental
substance abuse, child-witnessed domestic violence,
adolescent and
childhood substance abuse, and child abuse and neglect.
Provides
statistics, explores morbidity and mortality, demonstrates
how effective
screening can prevent morbidity and mortality, and outlines
specific
screening guidelines.
Parental Substance Abuse - this
presentation follows the same outline
as Opening and Closing Pandora's Box, but takes an in-depth
look at
parental substance abuse.
Adolescent
Substance Abuse - this presentation follows the same
outline as Opening and Closing Pandora's Box, but takes an
in-depth
look at adolescent (and childhood) substance abuse.
Substance
Abuse Overview - this presentation is designed to serve as
a stand-alone piece, or to be paired with the presentation
on parental or
adolescent substance abuse. It reviews the different
classes of drugs
and their associated toxicities, explores the spectrum of
substance
abuse, and discusses the physical and behavioral signs of
use and
abuse.
