Chief Accountant

YOUR ROLE

If you possess a deep passion for accounting and have a proven track record in maintaining compliance with accounting laws, combined with substantial experience in accounting, tax management, and financial reporting, then being COAF (Children of Armenia Charitable Fund) Chief accountant is a perfect role for you. Your duties will include:

ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS (50%)

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies in accordance with International Accounting Standards, International Financial Accounting Standards, and local tax regulations.
  • Ensure the consistent application of accounting principles across the organization.
  • Supervise the accurate recording of financial transactions based on initial accounting documents.
  • Ensure timely and precise reflection of all operations related to the movement of assets and liabilities in accounting records.
  • Manage bank transfers and oversee the integrity of financial transactions.
  • Submit employment and service contract-related applications to the State Revenue Committee.
  • Calculate and process payroll, employee wages, vacation pay, benefits, and associated taxes.
  • Execute payments to service providers in line with service contracts.
  • Compile and submit tax calculations and reports to the State Revenue Committee.
  • Prepare and present various statistical and regulatory reports to relevant government authorities.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and coordinate annual external audit activities.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT (30%)

  • Lead and mentor the accounting department team, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering professional development.
  • Co-create company culture, motivate and empower employees (including helping them to reach their deadlines and KPIs).

SUGGESTIONS AND UPGRADES (20%)

  • Come up with proposals aimed at improving and making easier accounting procedures, as well as upgrading these and applying legislation changes.

We’re expecting your best and require that:

YOU KNOW

  • Financial Reporting Standards and have education in accounting, economics, or financial field, as well as at least 5 to 7 years of professional experience in the role of a chief accountant. ACCA membership and other professional certifications will be considered as an advantage)
  • International Accounting Standards, International Financial Accounting Standards, and local tax legislation in depth.
  • Accounting software and financial management systems and can manage proficiently (e.g. AS Accounting software).
  • Tax legislation and other legal acts.
  • Labor Code.
  • Armenian: written and oral.
  • English: written and oral.

YOU CAN

  • Provide financial forecasts and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Implement effective cash management strategies.
  • Maintain an accurate record of company assets and depreciation.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements․
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and update company policies accordingly.
  • Implement cost control measures to enhance profitability while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Review expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and contract negotiations to optimize terms and costs.
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices and adherence to contract terms.

WE ARE

Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches to improve the quality of life in rural Armenia, with a particular focus on children and youth. COAF’s target development areas are education, health, social and economic development. COAF launched its programs in 2004, starting in one village and expanding to 64 villages in Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Gegharkunik, Shirak, and Tavush regions.

Since 2015, COAF has developed and started implementing SMART Initiatives. COAF SMART is designed to advance a generation across the rural world through education that will benefit individuals, societies, and the environment. COAF SMART is an exemplary model of development and will be replicated in other regions and communities throughout Armenia. The first COAF SMART Center was inaugurated on May 27, 2018 near the village of Debet, Lori Region.
