Asatur Sarkisyan: a big fan of Rubik’s Cube
1 July 2022
If you ask 17-year-old Asatur from the city of Tumanyan to describe his life in two words, he will do it in three: Rubik’s Cube, cinema, and video editing.
But his interests extend far beyond these hobbies. So far, he has managed to complete 6 SMART programs (Programming, English classes, Performing Arts, Finance, Digital Drawing, and Mechanics). He only regrets that he will no longer be able to participate in the Sound Design program.
Asatur is one of the winners of the FLEX program (Future Leaders Exchange Program) this year and will spend the next academic year in the United States.
His love and interest in Rubik’s Cube started at the age of 10 when his mother gave him his first Rubik’s Cube. Today, he has his own collection of famous cubes.
“I find it a pity that speedcubing isn’t so developed in Armenia, and I have to order every new sample for my collection from abroad,” he says.

Asatur is a great Rubik’s Cube master. Some are even solved with closed eyes.

A mini chess tournament has been launched at Tumanyan’s school during the break.

Asatur prepares to live away from his family and tries to organize his life independently.

Asatur was so interested in cinema and its creation that he started learning video editing.

Although Tumanyan has the status of a city, no one has stopped growing tasty strawberries and raspberries near their homes.

At this stage, Asatur is enrolled in the Mechanics program.

Before going to the United States, Asatur worked as a bartender and waiter at Tumanyan’s newly opened coffee shop.

Due to his busy schedule, Asatur can’t regularly participate in his football training.
