Every village child is able to overcome their speech & learning difficulties and reach high self-esteem & independence being ready to engage more in learning
Speech disorders can affect self-esteem and social interaction, limiting the ability to communicate, which, in turn, affects the overall quality of life. Speech impediments can be very isolating if we let them be. Children with speech disorders may not develop communication skills, feel shame, anger, fear, which often causes psychological problems. As observed by COAF, 15% of children in every classroom have speech disorder․ COAF targets the very age when a child’s learning is fast and effective for overcoming impediments working with children to improve the ability to understand and express thoughts, ideas and feelings, achieve school readiness skills and develop pre-literacy skills. COAF speech therapy is designed for 3-10-year old children, who receive both individual and group therapy twice a week. We also involve parents and teachers in the process through awareness raising, educational seminars and regular 1:1 meetings per need. Since 2012, more than 1200 children were able to overcome their speech difficulties. We have a 83.6% success rate in a year. Those children with more serious mental disorders, such as autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc, receive the therapy continuously.
