YOUR ROLE
If you are a highly energetic musician or music specialist who has working experience with children and is an education enthusiast, then being the Music Instructor in COAF’s Debed SMART Center is a perfect role for you. Your duties will include:
Content creation and instruction (80%)
- Develop theoretical and practical content for the music program, constantly perfecting it according to best local and international practice.
- Create respective syllabi, lesson plans, hand-outs, exercises, and presentations.
- Develop and implement programmatic learning outcomes and measuring tools for tracking students’ progress.
- Lead classes with 5 groups of students at a time.
- Track students’ individual and team performance and give them regular feedback, review and grade their assignments and take notes on their progress.
- Implements effective classroom management techniques.
- Implement different ideas as part of project-based learning during each course.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to develop appropriate content for students with special education needs.
Administrative duties and communication (20%)
- Continuously communicate and collaborate effectively with the educational consultant and administrative staff regarding students’ needs, lesson evaluation mechanisms, and attendance schedules.
- Work efficiently with the project-based learning specialist to plan and implement projects aligned with the course’s aims and outcomes.
- Ensure a safe, creative and imagination boosting working and learning atmosphere, by continuously collaborating and sharing your own experience with other instructors.
- Participate in short or long-term on-job training organized by COAF and/or partner organizations.
YOUR TEAM
You will be joining the COAF SMART Programs team and be a part of a multidisciplinary team working with the students of the center with an individual approach. You will work under the leadership of COAF SMART Education Programs Assessment and Development lead and will be working in close contact with the team of the instructors of the center.

We expect more from you, and anticipate that you have:
YOU KNOW
- Pedagogic approaches and methods to teaching music (through a pedagogic degree), or have equivalent professional experience.
- How to play at least 2 musical instruments well enough to teach beginners (e.g. the guitar and the piano),
- Have at least 1 year of experience in formal or non-formal education.
- Verbal & written Armenian, knowledge of English and Russian is a plus.
YOU CAN
- Use technologies with ease, especially equipment used during the courses.
- Manage conflicts and be a team player.
- Organize and prioritize.
- Work independently, work efficiently under pressure or within predefined deadlines.
- Present & communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Use AI tools in your working process.
- Work with 8-12 y.o. and 12-18 y.o. children.

WORK SCHEDULE
- You will work 5 days a week, from Fridays to Tuesdays from 11:00 to 20:00.

Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches to improve the quality of life in rural Armenia, with a particular focus on children and youth. COAF’s target development areas are education, health, social and economic development. COAF launched its programs in 2004, starting in one village and expanding to 66 villages in Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Shirak, and Tavush regions.
Since 2015, COAF has developed and started implementing SMART Initiatives. COAF SMART is designed to advance a generation across the rural world through education that will benefit individuals, societies, and the environment. COAF SMART is an exemplary model of development and will be replicated in other regions and communities throughout Armenia. The first COAF SMART Center was inaugurated on May 27, 2018 near the village of Debet, Lori Region.
