Senior Engineer of Maintenance and MEP systems

YOUR ROLE

If you are an experienced engineer with deep expertise in the design and management of technical maintenance systems, possess analytical thinking and team-leadership skills, and want to apply your professional knowledge in a growing, mission-driven organization, then the position of Senior Engineer of Maintenance and MEP systems at COAF (“Children of Armenia Fund”) the perfect role for you. Here’s what the role includes:

MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT & COORDINATION (50%)

  • Lead COAF’s engineering teams across all facilities (regardless of location), ensuring uninterrupted, efficient, and safe operation of all engineering systems.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of third-party maintenance contractors, ensuring timely and proper fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Supervise planned maintenance, emergency response, and repair works for all engineering systems, including:
  • Cold/hot water supply, irrigation, and wastewater systems,
  • Heating, cooling, and ventilation systems,
  • High- and low-voltage electrical systems (including substations and generators),
  • Fire-protection and alarm systems,
  • Gas lines, elevators, exhaust flues, doors, windows, etc.
  • Prepare and submit annual budgets for maintenance, repairs, and emergency response materials.
  • Produce quarterly reports detailing planned vs. actual maintenance activities.
  • Regularly visit COAF centers to assess system performance, evaluate staff work, and propose improvements.

TECHNICAL CONSULTING, INSPECTIONS & PROJECT PARTICIPATION (35%)

  • Contribute to the design phase of new buildings by drafting technical specifications and providing expert consultation to ensure systems meet COAF standards.
  • Oversee system installations during construction, offering professional feedback and improvement suggestions.
  • Lead the system handover process at project completion—securing as-built drawings, schematics, certificates, and all necessary verbal and written operational instructions and documentation.
  • Advise on technical specifications, compliance issues, and market analysis for procurement.
  • Report to your direct supervisor on project progress, plans, and challenges.

SYSTEM UPGRADES & PROCURMENT (15%)

  • Plan and secure timely delivery of spare parts, tools, and materials for both routine and emergency maintenance—collaborating with procurement specialists and providing clear technical specifications.
  • Monitor and manage updates to facility-management software, enhancing system efficiency and extending service life.

YOUR TEAM

You will be joining the COAF Infrastructure team and you will work under the leadership of Infrastructure Department Head. You will play a key role in connecting daily technical maintenance operations with the strategic development of engineering systems across our centers.

YOU

We expect more from you, and anticipate that you have:

YOU KNOW

  • the ins and outs of engineering system design or technical maintenance as you have a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree and at least 10 years of hands-on experience.
  • Practical expertise in heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical power, water supply, fire-protection, and related systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and modifying drawings in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP is a plus.
  • Native-level Armenian (spoken and written); fluency in technical English is required; Russian is desirable.

  • Lead diverse teams and manage contractor performance.
  • Draft technical specifications, assess site needs, and ensure system compliance.
  • Adapt rapidly to problems, propose efficient solutions, and carefully evaluate risks.
  • Work confidently with Google Workspace tools and technical documentation.

WE ARE

Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches to improve the quality of life in rural Armenia, with a particular focus on children and youth. COAF’s target development areas are education, health, social and economic development. COAF launched its programs in 2004, starting in one village and expanding to 66 villages in Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Shirak, and Tavush regions.

Since 2015, COAF has developed and started implementing SMART Initiatives. COAF SMART is designed to advance a generation across the rural world through education that will benefit individuals, societies, and the environment. COAF SMART is an exemplary model of development and will be replicated in other regions and communities throughout Armenia. The first COAF SMART Center was inaugurated on May 27, 2018 near the village of Debet, Lori Region.
