AI in the Classroom: COAF & U.S. Embassy Bring Innovation to Armenian Teachers

How do you make English classes more engaging in today’s tech-driven world? You speak the students’ language—one that increasingly includes artificial intelligence.
That was the focus of a recent workshop, “AI in Education: Prompting the Future,” co-organized by COAF and the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. Hosted at Concept Hotel by COAF in Lori, the event brought together around 50 English language teachers from the Lori, Armavir, Aragatsotn, and Shirak regions.

The workshop was led by Vincent Lauter, a Senior Global Educator at Arizona State University and English Language Specialist with the U.S. Department of State. Over the course of the interactive day, teachers explored the growing role of AI in education, diving into practical tools and techniques such as prompt engineering; teachers learned how to design and use effective prompts to generate engaging educational content.
“In the 21st century, it’s challenging to engage a child or student and make English more appealing,” said Anna Arakelyan, then COAF’s English Programs Manager. “That’s where AI steps in—trying to speak the student’s language and making English classes more interactive, educational, and creative.”

The event marked another milestone in COAF’s ongoing effort to bring cutting-edge innovations to rural education, while deepening its collaboration with long-time partners like the U.S. Embassy. For many attendees, the training was a glimpse into what’s possible when technology and education come together to empower Armenia’s next generation.
